Continuing our cheap-gear series: the list got long enough to split up, so here’s the second installment.

IConvert+ — an oldie but a goodie for single-page image files and load files: load-file conversion and image verification. (Requires filling out a form to download.)
JDiskReport — ever wonder what’s eating your hard drive space? This helps you find out.
ImgBurn — the best free CD/DVD burning software out there. Don’t laugh. You’ll burn another disc eventually. Also handy for fixing broken .iso files.
Bulk Rename Utility — does everything. You’ll never use another renamer.
GraphEdit & GSpot — both great codec tools for analyzing all sorts of video issues.
Process Explorer (procexp.exe) — ever wonder which program has a particular file or directory open? Process Explorer shows you which handles and DLLs a process has loaded.
OpenOffice — not as relevant as it once was (I used it a lot back in the WordPerfect-converting days), but still around if you need it.
